A train of coal empties passes by the entrance to the Eagle Creek (formerly Appalachian Power) hydro facility         
It is not unusual to see empties on the James River Line on the days (Sun. Wed. Fri.) that Amtrak's Cardinal runs on The Buckingham Branch. Empties usually head west over the BBRR. Today's train was only 848 axles. 904 is typical.
