Portraits 2. Here is a steam locomotive portrait via Arthur B. Johnson that was taken near Thorndale, Pennsylvania, on 12 August 1948. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5700, a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata during August of 1924, renumbered "1812" in April of 1952, and retired in 1955 after 31 years of faithful service. Along with two other locomotives, it awaits its next helper/pusher run out of Thorndale. (#13 of 36) |
