The locomotive was originally Burlington Northern 6712, built in February 1976, and was one of 44 BN units acquired by the IC after their original 15-year lease expired on 31 April 1991. The IC removed the dynamic brakes from these units, but left them on the 17 BN units it acquired the next year. |
