Kansas City Southern Lines caboose 365 was one of 30 such cars (350-379) rebuilt by the railroad from box cars. Originally equipped with Allied FULL-CUSHION trucks from a troop sleeper, this car now rode on conventional freight car trucks. Still serviceable, but in need of a paint job, 365 was on the rear of a transfer run operating over the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad between the KCS’s WEST YARD, just outside of New Orleans, and the NOPB’s COTTON WAREHOUSE YARD. This photo was taken from the Mississippi River levee behind Audubon Park. (approximate date of photo) |
