New Orleans Public Service car 825 was inbound on the ST. CHARLES line as it turned from South Carrollton Avenue onto St. Charles. The car had been built by the J.G. Brill Co. in 1922 and was scrapped less than a year after this photo, in February 1955. The monument to the right of the 825 is the Samuel Loewenberg Memorial. Mr. Loewenberg was a Prussian immigrant who was in the garment business, and the monument was donated to the City by his wife Rosa after his death in 1907. (approximate date of photo) |
