Lounge car 3003 CINCINNATI CLUB had been built by American Car & Foundry in 1946 for service on the GEORGIAN, a new streamliner jointly operated by the Louisville & Nashville and the Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis. The car was originally named ARISTOCRAT and was renamed in 1952. While the car had no reporting mark, it obviously belonged to Knoxville scrap dealer David Witherspoon, and was arriving in New Orleans on a special train from Knoxville for the Tennessee-Air Force SUGAR BOWL, which was played the next day. |
