Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Tom Smart that was taken in Louisville, Kentucky, on 31 July 1960. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9828 and two more "EF" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9828 is an EF-15A built in June of 1951 and retired in December of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. The number of the N-6B cabin car at the right is not recorded. ("Tchowee"; #25 of 39) |
