Central of Georgia 811  Contributor's Pick!
Central of Georgia 811 leading a rather deppressing train of four coach cars and two baggage cars on the Seminole in Birmingham, Al, where the Central of Georgia took control of the train. Notice the trailing locomotive is an Illinois Central E8. This was due o the fact that the City of Miami ran every third day and the Seminole ran every day. If both of the trains were running, the Central of Georgia put one of Its E8As on eith of the trains, thus the CG used one IC E8 on both trains. This way there were two cab locomotives. The Central of Georiga used all cab units on the Seminole and the City of Miami, due to thwe fact that they did not want to turn the train around. E8s only ran the train from the location of this picture, to Columbos Georgia, where one (or more) CG E7s whould take either train to Albany, Georgia, to interchange the train with the ACL. The Central of Georgia did not ant to turn an A-B set of locomotives around in Colombus, thus the A-A configuration... on a 6 car train.
