Wood. Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 5406." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "Class K-4 Pacific awaits arrival of GG-1 powered train from New York City at South Amboy, N.J. At this point, New York and Long Branch trains change engines and continue to the northern New Jersey shore. April 1956. Photo by Don Wood." #5406 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in February of 1927 and retired in February of 1958 after 31 years of faithful service. Mr Woods' Caption: "Baldwin built 5406 on the 'trailer track' near Connover's Cove, South Amboy. Steam K4's usually waited here for GG1-powered trains from New York." |
