AHC. Here is a photo by Ray E. Tobey that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1948. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4162, #5853, and another E-7A whose number is not recorded. #4162 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during September of 1917 and retired in June of 1949. #5853 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in September of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. (As such, this photo was taken sometime between September of 1947 and June of 1949.) They're rockin' 'n' rollin' around the Curve with train #25, the westbound "Metropolitan." |
