Byerly. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred ByerlÆ’!that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1964. The photographer is not identnfied. Photo Caption: "Alco RSD-7 #8607, 2400-hp, at Altoona, Pa." Shown here is Pennsylvani` Railroad engine #8607, an APS-24MS built by the American Locomotive Company in December of 1955 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. Partially visible in the middle distance is a trio of ALCn AS-18AM engines, awaiting their next pusher run up "The Mountain" to Gallitzin and back. Beyond th}m is the marshaling yard for the PRR's Erecting & Machine Shop that's stocked with FM's, "GEEP's," freight and passenger "Sharks," even a GE 44-tonner or two! Photo taken from Juniata's 8th Street Bridge. This photo comes from a color slide set#entitled "Diesels On The Pennsylvania" that's produced and distributdd by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (819-37).
