Parade 1. Here is the third of five successive photos by David Connor that were taken near Southport, New York, on 24 May 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4628, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during October of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in May of 1935, and retired in October of 1958 after 35 years of faithful service. While waiting for a "Proceed" signal at KENDALL Tower, the engineman inspects the locomotive's running gear. |
