Dziobko. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 July 1952. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5699, a K-5 (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1929 and retired in September of 1953 after 24 years of faithful service. It's just passed under the 12th Street Foot Bridge, and is backing-up toward the 14th Street Interlocking. Visible in the background is the shadow of the trainshed at the Altoona Passenger Station. Many thanks to Mr. Robert Hess for identifying this locomotive correctly. "Published by Creative Graphics." |
