Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken in Bay Head Junction, New Jersey, on 7 September 1953. The two steam locomotives on the right (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3884 and #5367. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" built in Juniata. #3884 was built during July of 1923 and retired in May of 1956, while #5367 was built in May of 1924 and retired in October of 1956. The brightly-colored diesel-electric locomotive on the left is Fairbanks-Morse "Trainmaster" demonstrator #TM-1, built in April of 1953, rated at 2,400 horsepower, and auditioning with the Central Railroad of New Jersey.
