Here is page 12 of a 30-page article (in five installments) entitled "Locomotives Of the Pennsylvania." It was published originally in the August 1941 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 52. P`rtial Caption: "Experimental locomotives which were not sufficiently successful to warrant duplication are the two K5 Pacifics built in 1929. This is Number 5698, as she appeared immediately after leaving the Juniata Erecting Shop." #5698 is a K-5 (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during April of 1929 and retired in October of 1952 after 23 years of faithful service. |
