Waupaca-bound CN local kicks up some of the freshly fallen snow and approaches the junction with the former C&NW right-of-way, now the Wiouwash State Trail, as it heads northwest via former SOO rails at Medina Junction, WI on 13 Dec. '17. This scene looks odd without the interesting, old telephone poles that stood along the far side of the tracks for 146 years, until they were removed between 4 and 18 Sep. '17. Looking southeast from the Train Watchers' bench; it was emplaced on the Wiouwash State Trail in 2016, "In honor of John Kurka, Papa to Sam and Caleb, "the Train Watchers."" |
