| A CN local works in the former SOO yard at Appleton Junction, WI on 29 Sep. '17. Local was servicing Presto Products Co., 670 N. Perkins St., Appleton, WI (physically located in Grand Chute, WI). The former SOO main line is hidden beyond the overgrowth at left and passes under the former C&NW main line about 400' behind me and to the left (southwest). The track running past me served as an interchange for the SOO and C&NW. The former C&NW yard is behind me. The SOO yard later served as an intermodal yard for the WC. The first turnout to the right leads to the last remaining diamond in Appleton (that I know of). The diamond forms the junction of 2 industrial spurs, neither of which, unfortunately, has seen a train for quite a few years. The second turnout to the right leads into the yard. |
