An empty 120-car coal train slows to halt on the CN, former C&NW, siding at Stroebe, WI on 23 Aug. '17. Train was returning from Wisconsin Public Service's Pulliam Power Plant, a.k.a. J. P. Pulliam Generating Station, at Green Bay, WI and had three locomotives, UP 7987, UP 7173, UP 6368. Train halted to wait for a northbound through freight. Stroebe is a railroad station in Fox Crossing, WI (formerly Town of Menasha, Winnebago Co., WI until 14 Apr. '16 (not Outagamie Co., where Stroebe was erroneously placed on this site)). The ongoing reconstruction of the Hwy. 41/Hwy. 441 (a.k.a. the Tri-County Expressway)/Hwy. 10 interchange (a.k.a. the Polish Connection) is partially visible in the foreground. The interchange opened to traffic on 30 Nov. '75. When Hwy. 10 was reconstructed and relocated ca. '97, this interchange was not simultaneously reconstructed to form a full interchange, but the ongoing, extensive expansion and reconstruction will make it a full interchange as well as increase traffic capacity. |
