Built by Rogers Locomotive & Machine Works in 1893, this plucky little 2-4-6 tank switcher serviced the Blue Island Yard - note the sign by its smoke stack. Eventually the class was scrapped between 1926-35 with the exception of a couple sold off earlier. Specs - class 242/1424, 56.5" drivers, modest 160 psi boiler pressure, 17x24" cylinders, engine wt 166,000 lb, modest tractive effort of 16,696 lb.
