A New Look for the GRE
GR GP38-2 #2104 makes its debut run on the Grand Rapids Eastern in new corporate colors. The engine is the former Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern #3885 and has been the engine assigned to GRE since 2013. Earlier this year it was swapped for Marquette Rail #2042 on sister road MQT, so it could be painted. The painters finally arrived last week and worked their magic on the old 3885, transforming it into 2104. G&W wasted no time getting 2104 back to home rails, as the locomotive hasn't even been out of the paint shop a week at this point! While some may gripe about how common G&W orange is becoming, I much prefer it to the Railtex era red and gray this engine wore before! Seen here shoving towards King Milling in Lowell.
