Photo Caption: "Decapod type locomotive, Class I-1s. The first experimental locomotive of this Class was built at the Juniata Shops, Altoona, in 1916." Shown here is PRR engine #4300, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during October of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in October of 1943, and retired in May of 1956 after 34 years of faithful service. |
