The locomotives for Illinois Central Gulf train No. 41 were parked on former GM&O/GM&N track at Laurel, Mississippi. The units were IC GP8 7904 with GM&O GP38's 712, 718 and 715. A crew would head north from Laurel on No.40 and turned at Union as No. 41. After switching at Laurel, a new crew was called and the train departed for Mobile. That crew would then return to Laurel the next day on No. 40. (approximate date) |
