Gulf Mobile & Ohio Railroad F3 880B departing Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in July 1978, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in December 1946 ( c/n 3601 ) on EMD Order E695, it was retired in October 1978, the prime mover was removed, and it was put on display in a park in Farber, Missouri. However, the city felt it was a liability and safety hazard, and it was scrapped sometime around 1990. It is seen here heading a train known as THE PLUG, a GM&O commuter train between Chicago and Joliet. |
