Louisiana Southern 501
Louisiana Southern 501 was a 44-ton locomotive built by General Electric in December 1941. Most GE locomotives of this design weighed 45 tons, but the railroad specified that the 501 only weigh 44 tons to insure that it could be operated without a fireman. It cost $24,150, was eventually sold to the Pacolet Manufacturing Co. at Pacolet, SC and later went to Willamette Industries at Taylor, LA. (approximate date)
