The belt after the docks closed - 1 of 2
Date approximate. Could be '73 or '74. The view is from the glass factory roughly north to Dock Junction. The two switch stands on the left are for the glass factory siding and the siding on the opposite side as they connect back to the main (center). A couple of car lengths later, two more sidings emerge, one of which holds a covered hopper for the cement plant at the end of Boxart Street. The Dock Junction concrete phone booth is evident (almost head on) as the tracks curve to the left toward Stonewood. More switch stands are faintly visible to the left of the phone booth. Normally, everything would be filled with coal hoppers, both empty and loaded, but the docks are closed and nature is taking over. The RG&E power lines (left side) have since been replaced. The B&O poles (right) are simply gone today. The concrete whistle post next to the switch stands in the foreground is for Dewey Ave.
