Freshly-painted Old Augusta Railroad NW2 number 100 was photographed at the Illinois Central Gulf's Bell Yard in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; not too far from its new home. The 100 was kept at Bell Yard until the OAR was completed three months after this photo was taken. The engine was built in July 1946 as New York Central 8703, and was subsequently Penn Central 8703, PC 9175 and Conrail 9175, before going to the OAR in 1982 as its first locomotive. |
