EL E8A #814 - Erie Lackawanna  Contributor's Pick!
Nice shot from an original color negative by an unknown photographer of 1951 EMD built Erie Lackawanna (nee-DLW) taken at an unidentified location. With the watchman's tower in the far, far right background, could this be Marion, Ohio? I have also posted earlier a photo of #814 on its "death march" through Fort Wayne, IN, in May of 1977. Date and location are approximate.

Fred Stuckmann General I'm thinking that it's Marion too, the train is going down the Dayton Branch. Kenton Ave. is under the last 2 units. 1/8/2017 6:19:01 PM
Wayne Hudak General Gary, you mention the "death march" train thru Ft Wayne in May 1977. I saw the same train (I called it The Funeral Train) at Hobart Indiana on Memorial Day 1977 heading to Chicago on the PFW&C. It was lead by a Reading unit. I was on my way to a cookout and couldn't get the camera out. I have seen a pic of that train arriving in Chicago. 12/19/2020 2:31:21 PM
