| Southern Pacific (T&NO) Mikado 745 was photographed from a moving vehicle along Louisiana Highway 631 as it headed west from New Orleans on the BNSF SUNSET ROUTE. The photo was taken between Paradis and Des Allemands as the 745 was beginning the first leg of a state-wide tour. SP freight engines never had white-stripped running boards or driver tires, but we'll overlook that on this fine, sunny April morning. The plaque on the tender was made when the locomotive was donated to the City of New Orleans in 1956. |
