PRR 2548, GF-25, 1966
Winter Day. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during February of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #2548 and two other units whose numbers are not recorded. #2548 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train past the Altoona Passenger Station on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Partially visible in the background is the 12th Street Bridge. Wave to the engineer!
