| 17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during August of 1965. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engine #6305, an unidentified ALCo diesel, two EMD "E" units, and engine #5878. #6305 is an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower; in this context, it is a "helper" engine. #5878 is an EP-20 built by EMD in 1949 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. They are passing ALTO Tower with a passenger train on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Pittsburgh and points West.
