RR City. Here is an original photo that I took of the Pennsylvania Railroad's "Railroad City Limited" in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown her| (L to R) are PRR engines #8609, #8610, and #8606. All are APS-24MS's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 2,400 horsepower each; #8609 and #8610 were built in 1956, but #8606 was built in 1955. They are pulling the 18-car "Railroad City Limited" out of Altoona on the Hollidaysburg Branch Line. The last cars of the "Limited" are visible around the "S" curve to the right. Also visible behind #8609 is the Crossing Gate Tower, located on 19th Street. |
