Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6038 and #6001. Both are EF-25A's built by EMD in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. They are pushing a 95-car iron-ore train on the Hollidaysburg Branch Line to the Wye Switches and up the New Portage/Muleshoe Curve route to Gallitzin, where they will uncouple and head back to East Altoona for another run up the Allegheny Mountains. The caboose is N-5C #477898. Also visible is the interlocking directly in front of ALTO Tower (not shown) and the headlight beam for an on-coming coal train pulled by engine #8570. This photo taken from the 17th Street Bridge. |
