PRR Coaling Tipple, 1965
Coaling Tipple. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's coaling tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 September 1965. Shown here on either side of the venerable Water Tower is a single decomissioned steam locomotive tender and a Baldwin switcher that was involved in a serious accident. (Regrettably, I did not record the switcher's number.) In the near background are some obsolete passenger cars. In the far background are the Westbound Classification Yards.
