8th Street. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 19 September 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2240, #2275, #2268, and #2528. #2240 is an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2275 and #2268 are EF-25's built by EMD in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #2528 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in 1962 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are pulling a 70-car eastbound TrucTrain past the PRR's Juniata Erecting & Machine Shop (not visible on the right). This is a through train that will not stop in Altoona to change crews ~ unusual then, the norm now. |
