Prairie skyscrapers         
Most towns on the plains had at least one of these tall, concrete structures to house grain to be shipped. They were often the tallest man made structures for miles, and out here on the high plains, they could be seen from a long way off. While these elevators on the Cimarron Valley, a former Santa Fe line, were not the largest in the state by any means, they still had a commanding presence over the surrounding landscape.
