| Roundhouse. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad property in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 April 1965. Shown here is PRR engine #7924, an ES-12 built by EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. It is shifting another unit (whose number is not visible) into the East Altoona Roundhouse, which is now used for light-duty maintenance of Diesels. Note all of the weeds that now occupy the space where steam locomotives were once maintained 24/7/365! |
