In 1913, the town of Los Indios was created through the promotion of the San Benito Rio Grande Valley RR. An interesting feature of the line was a spur that ran to the banks of the Rio Grande in order to serve the San Benito Irrigation Co pumphouse. The line was likely abandoned and removed in the late 1950s or early 60s when MoP had taken over and obliterated all the tiny railroads as part of its Gulf Coast Lines. This view looks south where Ohio Station Rd veers off of the SBRGVRR r-o-w. Hwy 281 is in the distance. |
