Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during early May of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2295, #2212, and #7263. All three were built by EMD. #2295 is an EF-25 built in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2212 is an EF-22 built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #7263 is an EFS-17M built in 1959 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They are pulling an eastbound coal train around the Horseshoe Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. |
