Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during early May of 1966. Shown here (L to R) is PRR engine #9878 and an F-Class "B" unit whose number is not recorded. Both were built by EMD. #9878 is an EF-15A built in 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are pulling a 20-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight, whose caboose is visible in the distance. |
