Coaling Tipple. Here is an original photo that I took from the Pennsylvania Railroad's coaling tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 September 1965. Here is a near-ground-level view facing westward. In addition to the many dead-lined PRR Diesels and passenger cars, the half-Roundhouse and the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata are also visible. At right is PRR engine #2010-B, a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in 1952 and rated at 1,600 HP. |
