Coaling Tipple. Here is an original telephoto view that I took from atop the Pennsylvania Railroad's coaling tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 September 1965. Here is a view facing westward. At the far left are the eastbound Receiving and Classification Yards. The large building in the center is the Power House. Beyond it is the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata. Also note the PRR work train with 250-ton wrecking crane; the orange building is the Railroader's YMCA. |
