PRR 493445, Bunk Car, 1960
MofW Equipment. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad Maintenance-of-Way Equipment in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, during May of 1960. Shown here is a wooden Bunk House Car, #493445. The two smoke stacks means it is heated by coal stoves, and the wire running toward the hand brake means that it has electric lights inside. There is neither running water nor toilets, however, so its occupants are obliged to use the Freight Station. This photo was taken near the intersection of Blair and South Juniata Streets. Chimney Rocks is also visible in the distance.
