Vancouver Center Yard & New By-Pass Lane
New By-Pass lane on the left of the frame on those fancy concrete ties shows the southern end of the cursed yard-and-main by-pass in Vancouver. Just beyond the road bridge in the distance (Mill Plain) is Vancouver Center proper (BNSF) and the wye with the station (the peak of the Columbia Train Bridge barely visible between the concrete silo in the center distant frame and the large sprawling United Grain terminal on the right of the frame (More details? Its immediately "up" from the paired Procor tankers in the little four-car sort within the ladder)) showing the old small hump yard, sort ladder, and original Vancouver yards of SP&S (now BNSFs)... but its that lane on the left thatll cause me consternation from here to Kingdom Come - because it truly is being used - frequently - for freights to keep off the main north-south lanes (hidden far to the right of the frame) and recently elongated passing lane. It permits westbound-to-northbound freight transitions through the wye to scoot along this two-plus mile section... Im waiting on the updated satellite imagery to fully appreciate all the whoop-dee-doos and squiggles that appear when looking at it on the ground. I have to look forward to something, because its providing a great view-block to my discovered sitting duck arcade for power units back in the power corral waiting area.
