Colorado & Southern 322, named SILVER HERALD, in Denver, Colorado on an unknown day in August 1969, Kodachrome by unknown photographer, Chuck Zeiler collection. Built by Budd for the first Denver Zephyr on Job 965, ordered in December 1935, delivered in October 1936, the two cars on this job (the other car was CB&Q 950/C&S 321, named SILVER COURIER) were power-mail-baggage cars with four GE 50KW generators for hotel power. In 1957 the CB&Q's Denver Zephyr was re-equipped, and the original two trainsets were sold to the C&S, becoming the Texas Zephyr. The last run of the Texas Zephyr was September 11, 1967, although the original Denver Zephyr trainsets were withdrawn from service in February 1965. |
