MPA 1506
This old Geep, now preserved at the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum, has quite a history. Built by EMD in 1953 as Reading Company 621, it was sold before Conrail to the Emons Industries controlled Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad, who first numbered it as 86, then as 1506. It was moved to service on the former Reading Perkiomen branch in 1998 after Emons had gained control of Penn Eastern Rail Lines a year earlier. Never operated on the Perk, it remained there after Penn Eastern became independent, following Genesee & Wyoming's purchase of Emons in 2002. Acquired by its present owner, the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society in 2008, it was subsequently moved to Hamburg from Emmaus over Norfolk Southern and Reading & Northern rails. It will one day be restored back to its original appearance of olive green and gold lettering and might be operated by the museum.
