In 1972, UP sold 14 of these cars to the Auto Train Corporation, #9004 was retained by UP. In 1973, 12 of these cars were outshopped as #9xx-series dome lounge 44 seat coaches, and 2 were outshopped as #54x-series dome 36 seat lounges. After being sold in 1981, the #9003/#903 went through a series of private owners until being acquired by Dave Hoffman in 1992.
