| Built in 1956 by P-S in Lot #6970 to Plan #4202 as SAL 5DB sleeper 21 seat Sun Room buffet lounge #20 HOLLYWOOD BEACH, 1 of 3 such cars built in that Lot, which was ordered in January 1955 for the SILVER METEOR; cars were delivered in January 1956. In 1967, the names were changed from the BEACH-series to the SUN-series, HOLLYWOOD BEACH as SUN RAY. The BEACH names were then applied to the MOUNTAIN-series 6DB sleeper buffet lounges. In 1971, these 3 cars were sold to Amtrak as #3230-#3232. The SUN RAY was retired in October 1981 and sold to private ownership. 1 of 28 private cars that arrived in Seattle over several days for the 2013 AAPRCO convention train to Napa, CA.
