This 2-8-2 Mikado was built by Baldwinin 1920 as their class 3160. It had the larger 63" drivers than some of the earlier models, developed 200 psi boiler pressure, and again produced a respectable 62,949 lb tractive effort. In this photo, it sits in the Chicago Santa Fe yard with others in a storage line. After serving 30 years, the class was finally scrapped between 1950-55. Robert J. Foster photo |
