Pole filters were needed in the days of steam, too.
The year is known, not the actual date. The location is a guess based on the business in the background. It only had 2 locations that I could find and the other location was not near NKP.

Pole lines were a reality for the railfan, so this was probably the best shot that could be taken from the railfan's location.
