WAB 4-8-2 #2807  Contributor's Pick!
When compared to some of the earlier locomotives in this album built in 1890's and early 1900's, this massive 1930 Baldwin locomotive is powerful, sophisticated and the product of years of constant research and development. This Mountain-type locomotive boasted 70" drivers and a whopping 235 psi boiler pressure but came near the end of steam. It was retired sometime between 1953-55, barely working 25 years. No known survivors of this class are known. No known location or date for this photo made by Forrest Trittenbach.
